After seeing how some people have taken my opinions on the Copa Libertadores group that Universidad Católica has been put into completely out of context, I want to make my opinions clear.
We find ourselves in a difficult group, and like every other group, it could have been worse, it could have been better. Both Nacional and Argentinos Juniors have won this competition before, so they know what it takes. Both teams have managers who want to dominate possession, so they will be very difficult to play against.
I knew that we would draw a team from Uruguay, and in our case, it was Nacional. I had phone calls from my family, friends and acquaintances, and that’s when I said, “it seems like this is the only important game”. The reason why is because everyone I know in Uruguay will be watching, not because I don’t see the other games as important.
I am one of those who believes that to succeed in the Copa Libertadores you must be true to yourselves, regardless of who you are up against. If you’re not, then it will be impossible to get the right results.
