The Frenchman<br \/>\nhas been a key man for Monaco and has recently made a name for himself on the<br \/>\ninternational scene by <strong>winning the UEFA Nations League<\/strong>, starting in midfield alongside Paul Pogba. In that particular match he amazed those who hadn\u2019t seen much of him and there<br \/>\nare now rumours circling that teams the size of Real Madrid are paying close attention to his<br \/>\nprogress.<\/p>\n<p>I had the pleasure of coaching him at Bordeaux and <strong>gave him his professional debut in<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2018<\/strong>, at the age of just 18, against FK Ventspils of Latvia in a Europa League second round<br \/>\nqualifying match. He scored his first goal in the next round against Ukrainian side FC<br \/>\nMariupol.<\/p>\n<p>A few days later <a href=\"https:\/\/gustavopoyet.com\/en\/my-take-on-my-controversial-exit-from-bordeaux\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the controversy I have explained<\/a> before unfolded and I left the club. After I<br \/>\nleft, the manager who replaced me did not have as much faith in Tchouam\u00e9ni, and he didn&#8217;t<br \/>\nplay much that year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"AURELIEN TCHOUAMENI | Fantastic Defending &amp; Passing | Bordeaux 2018\/2019 (HD)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NsrY-wq065w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>The qualities that make Tchouam\u00e9ni special<\/h2>\n<p>During the time I managed him I could see many of his strengths, which everyone is<br \/>\nspeaking about at the moment. He has an <strong>incredible ability to win the ball<\/strong> back through the way he puts pressure on the opposition, he has a physical presence,<strong> he is strong, he does <\/strong><strong>not give the ball away<\/strong> and if he gets near the opposition&#8217;s goal <strong>he can score<\/strong>, although he likes playing in front of the defence.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also worth highlighting his <strong>enthusiasm for improving<\/strong>, for listening to people and for<br \/>\nasking questions, which is very important from a coach&#8217;s perspective. I always saw his hunger and intensity. We had a few chats together with video analysis and agreed on a few things for him to work on, which we were both really pleased with.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I think he is <strong>more mature, more settled<\/strong>, he has a better understanding of his role in the team, whether he is playing for Monaco where he takes on certain responsibilities or he is<br \/>\nplaying for the national team with more high-profile players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Aur\u00e9lien Tchouam\u00e9ni has been one of the star names of the last few weeks.
